Cat 272: Envoys and orders

This is another document referring to the guide Saṃgalakā and the other envoys in Dunhuang mentioned in 271 en route to Ganzhou and Shuofang. It specifies three kinds of envoys, each carrying yellow orders. The first four lines are copied from a different report and relate how another envoy Panakā married a Chinese woman: 'I make (her) my wife. The wife belonging to the house I expel.' The other side of this long scroll contains a Chinese Buddhist sutra, illustrating the economic re-use of paper.
